Why Consider Online Tutoring?

Children going to school each morning should be one of the most normal things in the world, but the ongoing pandemic has shattered our concept of “normal” in so many ways. If you are a parent, teacher, or student, I imagine that questions and concerns about the safety of classroom learning and the effectiveness of remote learning are an ongoing source of stress. Schools have worked extremely hard to find creative ways to continue providing a quality education while at the same time minimizing health risks to students, teachers, families, and others in our community, but there is still so much uncertainty. I believe that my online tutoring services can help to ease the stress and uncertainty by offering ways to increase learning and decrease risk.

Some of the specific reasons you might consider online tutoring include the following...

  • You may be a student (or the parent or teacher of a student) who fell behind in one or more subjects when your school closed early last spring. If your school offered remote learning, it may have felt less effective and less engaging than being in the classroom, and you may have struggled to retain information and skills through last summer and into the new school year. In addition, it may have been more difficult to get help and support from your teachers when you could not go to them in person. Because of these challenges, you may be having trouble this year trying to catch up while at the same time learning new material. Online tutoring can help you get back up to speed.

  • This year, you may only be going to school two or three days (or half days) a week instead of five, and when you’re not in the classroom you may be back to remote learning at home with all of its challenges and limitations. Your school likely has many new rules and protocols for preventing the spread of coronavirus, and all these changes may be decreasing the effectiveness of your learning, despite the best intentions and efforts of your teachers. Online tutoring can compensate for these changes by providing effective personalized support to meet your specific educational needs.

  • You may be a student (or the parent of a student) who has chosen to homeschool this year in order to avoid the potential risks of going back to school, or you may be a student who was homeschooled even before the pandemic began. Your parents may need extra support to provide you with effective and engaging learning, especially in technical subjects such as math and science if they do not have expertise in those areas. Online tutoring allows you to work one-on-one with a real person, rather than relying on websites, videos, or other online resources that are impersonal and offer no way to ask questions and get support in real time.
