My Experience

I have been an educator for over 20 years, working in both outdoor education and classroom teaching. In the field of outdoor education, I have worked as an instructor with organizations such as Outward Bound and the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps. Most recently, I worked with the independent Vermont Commons School as a math and environmental sciences teacher. I have also worked for 10 years as a private tutor, both independently and for a tutoring agency in the Burlington, Vermont, area.

I specialize in tutoring middle and high school students, and I have also worked with college students and professional adults. My areas of expertise include all levels of math and science, but I have also tutored English, Spanish, writing skills, standardized test preparation, and other subjects.

In addition to being an educator, I am also a naturalist, and I am passionate about exploring, observing, and understanding Vermont's natural and cultural landscape. I run my own business - called Mapping, Analysis & Planning Services (M.A.P.S.) - in which I provide educational experiences (such as natural history presentations and field walks), ecological consulting, and GIS mapping expertise.
